Yoni: The Soul of the Building Measure

In the classical Vāstu tradition, Yoni gives a building measure its directional identity.

A building may fit the plot in many possible dimensions, but Yoni asks what directional character the chosen measure expresses. It places the verified building measure within one of eight Yoni classes and helps relate that measured form to its prescribed Nija Yoni. In this way, Yoni reveals how the chosen measure belongs within the traditional directional order before that measure becomes permanent.

The adoption of the prime measure marks the traditional “birth of the Vāstu.”
